Sunday Studio Visit – outside the studio!

Happy Sunday!! Since making, firing and installing my exhibition in ContainArt last week I have not been in the studio much. We finally have some consistent nice weather here in Ballarat, after a miserable Winter, so the plan is to finally finish the deck – a year later!! The delay has been a combination of aforementioned weather and also some ongoing health problems I have been having over the Winter and into Spring…. I am finally starting to come good, but have the occasional relapse for a couple of days. So annoying!

Anyway, I have spent the weekend oiling slats for the deck railing and hubby has been putting them up (under supervision – lol). So, it looks like we will have our deck finished this summer – yay!!

Apart from that i will take this opportunity to remind you that Valentines Day is only one month away – February 14th. And, of course, I have lots of gift ideas in my ETSY shop for both him and her – jewellery, homewares, and of course custom orders are always welcome 🙂

I’ll leave you with some gift inspiration – have a great week 🙂

Have a great Christmas everyone 🎄

I said in my last post I was going to start posting more frequently after ill health – but getting so far behind in my teaching and firing schedule and other business stuff – plus a bit of a health relapse – meant it just hasn’t happened. So I am going to call it quits for 2016 and make my New Years Resolution to have GOOD HEALTH!! I have never experienced six months of ill health before and it has done my head in!! So here’s to 2017.

I will leave you with a couple of pics of works in my ETSY store though because I am having a boxing day sale – perfect: no need to visit the chaos of the malls, just buy online!! At the checkout use ‘boxingday2016’ and receive 20% off your entire purchase – what better way to end the year?

Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone and see you – hopefully – more regularly in 2017 🎄🎉☺

Sunday Studio Visit…. custom orders!

I have been very busy this past month, with catching up after being ill for a while (Winter/Spring bugs), and also quite a few custom orders. So yesterday (Sunday) I was very busy, therefore I am writing this a day late.

In my last Sunday studio visit post I showed you a picture of the 200 snow flakes I was glazing for a custom order I received through my ETSY shop. Well, the glazing is finally all done, and now I am threading ribbon through them all for hanging!! What a job!

Besides that order, I also am working on custom orders for some focal beads, some champagne flutes and a coffee cup.

Overall its been a very busy October with lots of orders and purchases coming through my Etsy shop …. here’s a few of the items that have found new homes this month – some within Australia and some overseas.

And of course there is always the customary kiln firing – this firing is full of students works, plus the custom champagne flutes.

Well, that’s about all I have time for – back to snow flake threading!

Sunday Studio visit – Glazing in the Studio

Its a bit of a dreary Sunday today with lots of (more) rain! So I have been catching up on some glazing in the studio….

{insert pic here} oops sorry folks, forgot to take it!! lol….

Glazing of children’s works created during the school holiday workshops a couple of weeks ago – during the workshops we made Christmas plates and decorations decorating them with coloured slips…. so today I applied a clear glaze to the kids plates and decorations which will make them shiny:

The other glazing I began was the custom order I have for two hundred (yes 200) Christmas snow flakes which i received via my ETSY shop. the test turned out great so I am doing the mass production thing for a couple of days!!

If you would like to place a Christmas decorations order best do it NOW to ensure pre xmas delivery – message me here or place a custom order through ETSY 🙂

And of course the kiln is loaded with the glazed lovelies from today!! And overseen by the kiln goddess…

Well that’s about it for today – have a great Sunday/Monday/Week 🙂

And here is what 200+ decorations look like 🙂

Apart from that I have not been doing much – I am still recovering from a terrible virus i have had, and it does not want to let go!!

Launch Day of the Plan Australia MakeForGood Campaign

Today was the official lunch of the Plan Australia #becauseiamagirl campaign, which aims to raise awareness and funds for women and girls held back by poverty and gender inequality.

IMG_20160906_152231

The project is powered by Etsy sellers from Australia and New Zealand in support of Plan International’s Because I Am A Girl campaign. All funds raised will go towards supporting projects that help make a difference in the lives of girls held back by poverty and gender inequality. Last year the funds were directed to Cambodia, and this year it is focused on Sri Lanka.

To learn more about this project go to etsy.me/makeforgood.

This years theme is a Brighter Future, so I have designed a range of bright colourful jewellery and will be donating  25% of my sales from my StripeDelight range to the cause. For the range of handmade bespoke items available across all shops search #makeforgood on Etsy.

And remember you can use the coupon code YAY200 in my shop for a 20% discount till the end of September. To find out why visit my previous POST!

If you would like to donate to the cause and would like a custom order made, for example if you would prefer some guitar string hoop earrings made with brightly coloured beads just let me know and we can arrange it easily.

And so here is the range of jewellery I have designed especially for this cause. Please support the campaign, it is a great initiative to involved in 🙂

Sunday Studio Visit – a milestone in my Etsy shop!

Today in the studio I am firing the kiln – a bisque firing, with a combination of my work and students works.

I have also finally met my milestone goal in my ETSY shop – listing 200+ items in my shop, and to celebrate I am holding a 20% discount till the end of the month – so that my 200 goal will be gone and I will have to start again!!

Use coupon YAY200 at checkout to receive your discount 🙂

Two hundred items may not sound like much, but it is when you consider the making, the photography, the photo editing, the uploading and creating product descriptions – it is actually very time consuming! Then the marketing – phew!

My Etsy shop stocks ceramic tableware and jewellery I make, and also jewellery I make from upcycled materials such as guitar strings, marbles, buttons and repurposed beads. Each piece is unique, and make great gifts to others or yourself!!

Here are some of the products I have recently listed to achieve my 200+ inventory – enjoy and happy shopping 🙂

Sunday Studio Visit – Guitar String Jewellery & Fathers Day!

There is not much happening in the studio today. I went to a 50th birthday party last night, so it has been a sleep in morning and lazy afternoon 🙂

I did load the kiln with STUDENT works for a firing tomorrow, and am planning on doing some glazing on my custom orders tomorrow after unloading the bisque kiln.

It was a beautiful day – well for Dunnstown anyway – it was the first day of reasonable weather we’ve had for months AND yes, spring is only days away! So, my partner & I went for a brisk walk around the 4KM block just before the sun was beginning to go down, and midway I was able to capture a vibrant pic of the sunset. I must admit I have a plethora of amazing sunsets where I live which you can see on my INSTAGRAM account:-)

This evening I played around with some guitar string jewellery after being given a surprise box of goodies from a friend during the week. I’ve been making guitar string jewellery for a while because my partner plays guitar, and this surprise package had strings as well as lots of other jewellery making goodies!

So tonight I experimented with making some earrings, rings and necklaces combining other accents such as seed beads, glass beads, my handmade paper beads and my ceramic personalised charms. Here are on some “on the workbench pics” Click on a pic for a better view 🙂

Apart from that, Fathers Day is next weekend and you can still purchase unique gifts from my ETSY shop and get them in time with express postage – or you could pick up goodies from studio if you live nearby 🙂

Sunday Studio Visit – #Makeforgood

Besides firing the kiln this afternoon, I have also been finalising my jewellery designs for this years Makeforgood campaign, a charity event facilitated by a partnership between Etsy Australia and Plan Australia to raise awareness and money for the brighter futures of the lives of girls in Cambodia.

The theme this year “creating brighter futures” so I am making a range of jewellery from brightly coloured handmade paper beads – a necklace, charm bracelet and earrings – which are repeatable designs, though the beads will always be a little different so that you are still assured a unique piece of jewellery.

I am donating 25% of any sales toward the campaign, and am on schedule to list my items in my ETSY shop tomorrow (Monday).

The hashtag to search Etsy for the full range of makeforgood items is, yes you guessed – makeforgood. This is a great opportunity to get your Christmas shopping finished early, plus contribute to an important campaign.

Meanwhile here are some work in progress pics to tempt you – for a good cause!

And cutting the paper for the beads 🙂 – have a great weekend!
